The Gunners

Hi , my name is Robert Wossmar and I live in Sweden.

There are some good links at hte bottom of my page that you can visit .

History :

1886 : The club Royal Arsenal was founded .

1891 : Switched name to Woolwich Arsenal .

1919 : Tottenham and Chelsea leave the first league at the same time as the league is to be reduced by teh number of teams . Arsenal got on a good position in division 1 and by that cause , Arsenal take Tottenham´s place in the first league , and they have not given it back since then .

1927 : First FA Cup Final .

1930 : First Fa Cup win . They won over Huddersfield in the final , 2 - 0 .

1931 : First League Win .

1934/5 : Record in scoring by Ted Drake . 42 goals scored .

1935 : Highbury record . 73295 people watched the match against Sunderland .

1939 - 1945 : World war 2 . Nine players killed .

1948 : The war have not made people to stop going to matches . There were 27000 on one of the B-teams matches .

1966 : Lowest number of people in a long time , there were only 4544 people on a match .

1971 : The Double ! League-win and Fa-Cup Win . The only time Arsenal have ever won both of the titles . Liverpool was beaten in the Cup-Final , 2 - 1 . When they got home , they were seen riding in Double Deckers in front of 250000 people .

1979 : Finest win . FA Cup Win . In the final , they beat the rival club Tottenham , 5 - 0 !!

1986 : George Graham appointed as manager .

1989 : Though apparently unrelated to Arsenal , this date can not pass unseen . The 15th of april , 95 Liverpoolsupporters were crushed to their deaths by the fence at Hillsborough .

1989 : Most exciting league-ending in a long time . When two minutes was left of the season , Michael Thomas wrote his name into the historybooks . When he scored and by that , Arsenal took home the title .

1991 : Latest League win .
